Brooklyn, NY – Backed by two goals apiece from senior captains Sydney McNutt (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) and Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL/Mariner), the Wagner women's soccer team earned a 5-3 victory over LIU Brooklyn in their first Northeast Conferenced (NEC) game on Friday evening.

McNutt tied the game ten minutes later after receiving a feed from sophomore Sandra Battista (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy). With five minutes remaining before intermission, Fritz gave the Seahawks a 2-1 lead, when Battista recorded her second helper of the match, as the Cape Coral, FL native fired the ball into the top-right corner of the net from 20 yards out.
The Green & White struck first in the second half as senior Taylor Sackaris (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) converted a Kristen Bischoff (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) cross to double Wagner's lead at 3-1.
The Blackbirds answered back with a goal from Madison Gomez, trimming the deficit to 3-2. The Seahawk co-captains added two more tallies that gave Wagner a 5-2 advantage with Fritz connecting on her team-leading fifth goal of the season on a shot from 25 yards away to make it 4-2.
Two minutes later, McNutt's second direct free kick marker of the season gave the Seahawks a three-goal lead.
