The ACC is the last major conference standing, with regards to an attempt to playing competitive games in the fall of 2020. The Sun Belt remains in the mix, but things can still change as students return to campus and deal with COVID-19 outbreaks.

Even with uncertainty still lingering, the final Top 50 Men’s Division I recruiting class rankings are out. Attempting to gauge the top players heading to schools with the class of 2020, there are obvious exceptions out there as enrollees plan to head to school at different times, and some international students elect to look elsewhere. Things could end up looking different as well, if the 2021 MLS Draft takes place in January and pro prospects opt to make the jump given a longer runway to make a decision.

Below is the final men’s Division I Recruiting Class Rankings, ranking the Top 50 classes of new talent, based off rosters posted on each program’s site and announcements that have been released over the past year.

Please send any corrections or omissions to editor@topdrawersoccer.com.

1. Indiana

Commitments: M Kyle Folds (Crew SC Academy – No. 68), M Emerson Nieto (Indiana Fire Academy – No. 79), F Lukas Hummel (St. Louis FC – No. 97), D Lawson Redmon (St. Louis FC – No. 108), D Joseph Maher (St. Louis FC – No. 131), M Nathan Ward (Beadling SC – No. 195)

Transfers: D Callum Stretch (Denver), D Nyk Sessock (Pittsburgh)

Joshua Penn left the program last week, opting to sign with Indy Eleven. That shouldn’t have a big impact in the class or team in itself, although there could be time to recruit a transfer to fill his spot before a hypothetical 2021 spring season.

2. Georgetown

Commitments: D Kenny Nielsen (Pateadores SC – No. 54), M John Franks (United Futbol Academy – No. 63), M Chris Hegardt (Seattle Sounders – No. 73), F Marlon Tabora Ponce (Bethesda SC – No. 74), D Dominic De Almeida (PDA – No. 84), F Kyle Linhares (PDA – No. 107), M Trevor Burns (New England Revolution), F Pranav Jha (PDA), GK Ryan Schewe (Atlanta United)

Given how good Georgetown’s rising senior class was, and the level that this group possesses, it’s a shame not to see the Hoyas take the pitch in the fall. This group provides reinforcements in all areas of the park.

3. Duke

Commitments: M Peter Stroud (West Ham – No. 15), GK John Harms (Crew SC Academy – No. 47), M Nicholas Pariano (Philadelphia Union – No. 48), D Antino Lopez (Seattle Sounders – No. 65), F Amir Daley (New York Red Bulls – No. 90), F Miguel Ramirez (Atlanta United – No. 123), F/D Sintayehu Clements (Seattle Sounders Academy), M Santa Ihara (SIMA), D Lewis McGarvey (Glentoran FC), M/F Krew Verratti (Cincinnati United Premier)

Adam Armour signed a contract with a 2. Bundesliga club earlier in the summer, bumping the Blue Devils down a peg. It’s still a very good class, assuming they all head towards Durham at some point in 2020-21. As of now, it looks like this will be the highest-ranked class to take the field in the fall.

4. Portland

Commitments: D Kevin Bonilla (FC Dallas – No. 17), M Nicholas Fernandez (Barca Academy – No. 63), D Brandon Farmelo (Colorado Rapids – No. 96), M Oliver Larraz (Barca Academy – No. 126), F Jacob Babalai (EastSide Timbers FC), F Brandon Cambridge (Vancouver Whitecaps), GK David Mitzner (Pateadores SC), F Buba Fofanah ([Cate ca-m]), D Deryk Jones (Shattuck St. Mary’s), D Jacob McDaniel (Westside Timbers)

Transfers: F Miguel Yuste (Yale), GK Lute Lillo Portero (Stetson), M Miles Robinson (Santa Clara), M/D Nicholas Denley (Concordia)

The Pilots have locked in a top-five class despite losing a couple of transfers to pro decisions.

5. SMU

Commitments: M Cesar Garcia (FC Dallas – No. 39), M Tyler Oakson (Pateadores SC – No. 77), M Kellan Berry (Santa Barbara SC – No. 162), M Nathan Ashley (Boca United FC), M Cody Black (Rancho Santa Fe Attack), M Harvey Castro (Solar SC), GK Cole Johnson (Real Salt Lake - AZ), F Jose Ortiz (Solar SC)

Transfers: D Timo Hummrich (Delaware), M Skage Simonsen (St. John’s), D Judson Burns (Clemson), F Papa Ndoye (LIU)

Three of four transfers heading to SMU have extensive experience in DI soccer, boosting them into the top five upon further evaluation.
