As a new year looms, with it comes the hopes to simply see more soccer in person.

A potential 2021 spring championship is on the docket for the spring, while players making the jump to college next year aim to compete in what is hopefully a more normal campaign in the fall.

The impact on 2021 recruiting isn’t rampant on putting women’s Division I classes together. But it does make assessing how good each class will be slightly more difficult than it already is. Varied rules by state, and with so little action in California, one of the biggest suppliers to the best talent on a yearly basis, each month’s recruiting class rankings could look a bit different.

International recruits are going to eventually come into play as well, not to mention the possibility of transfers picking up pace.

Below is the latest look at the DI recruiting classes for 2021 in December. The rankings will be updated each month between now and August 2021.

1. California*

Commitments: D Ayooluwapo Oke (Tophat SC – No. 24), F Arianna Manrique (Tophat SC – No. 27), D Courtney Boone (Legends FC – No. 29), F Karlie Lema (MVLA – No. 35), F Velize King (Legends FC – No. 67), M Noelle Bond-Flasza (OC Surf – No. 119), F Alexis Wright (Tophat SC – No. 122), F Jordyn Young (Mustang SC – No. 135), F Aaliyah Schinaman (MVLA – No. 158), D Aasha McLyn (Beach FC – No. 161), D Maya Griffin (Legends FC – No. 196), D Cailin Bloom (Davis Legacy), M Kei Kitamura (FC Bay Area), M Marleen Rohde (Turbine Potsdam)

A big, diverse class was announced by California shortly after Signing Day. The bulk of the class hails from in-state, with notable exception Marleen Rohde a German youth international, plus a few very strong players from Georgia.
